  • Concept of the work "Victory of Samothrace":

The work "Vitória de Samothrace" , was made by the artist for her series of works entitled "Divas", which shows not only the beauty, but also the power and strength of women in all fields of life, above all, their strength spiritual and mystical to transform the world.

In this work, the artist alludes to magestity and victory in the life of a woman, through her empowerment and the sacred feminine, using the important statue "Vitória de Samotrácia" (today at the Louvre Museum).

Vitória de Samotrácia is a famous sculpture from antiquity, which was created around 190 BC and is 3.28 meters high. The dating is uncertain, but the work has many characteristics attributed to the Hellenistic period. Some of the characteristics of this period include dramatic, theatrical and emotional art. Sculpted in white marble from Paros, the work that represents the shape of a winged woman, is at the same time intriguing, perhaps due to the fact that the sculpture does not have the key pieces (head and arms) thus causing a sense of mystery. The movement of both wings and the dress waving in the wind, give the work an inspiring element. It is believed that this statue represented a figure in the bow of a warship to commemorate the victory of a naval battle. Therefore, Victoria is the goddess of victories.

In 1864, it was acquired by the Louvre Museum, this beautiful sculpture, is in a prominent place on a staircase in the Museum, which provides a perfect point of view to view it. It is positioned outside the Grand Gallery, which houses all the paintings of the Italian Renaissance. The view that the visitor has of the work while climbing the staircase, only increases the majestic sensation of the work.
